Sunday, 1st September, 2019 is the date to remember for dog lovers in the south east. To be held at The Hickstead Showground, West Sussex, the event is held in a relaxed picnic style atmosphere and is the highlight of the year for many dog owners.

The South Eastern Hound Club look forward to welcoming regular and new exhibitors at the Hickstead Showground and hope everybody has an enjoyable day.

If you are interested in gaining knowledge of the various hound breeds then go along to the show. Twenty five different hound breeds, approximately 350 – 400 dogs will be competing in over 100 classes for the title of Best in Show and or Best Puppy in Show, and hopefully a chance to show at The Kennel Club’s prodigious show, Crufts, in 2020. Last year a Rhodesian Ridgeback won both trophies. Judging starts at 10.00am and continues until approximately mid afternoon when we can applaud the winning Best in Show and Best Puppy.

As in previous years exhibitors and friends are encouraged to bring their gazebos and picnics to the show and help make it an exceptionally friendly day out. It is a welcome opportunity to meet far flung friends and to hear their news and see their new additions, family and hounds. There are also various food vendors available around the showground.

Following their usual practice, this year’s supported charity is Medical Detection Dogs. These dogs are trained to detect the odour of human disease, a research into the fight against cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
The committee have always appreciated and are very grateful to the numerous sponsors for their support, one of which is Aspect County Magazine. When you come along on the day, dogs are welcome of course!.
