Girls First: Empowered, Encouraged, Engaged
Roedean is a school where academic ambition meets opportunity, and where girls aged 11 – 18 achieve outstanding results while developing the confidence to thrive and be ready to make their mark in the world.
With the sea stretching out to the horizon and the exciting city of Brighton ten minutes away, Roedean’s location reflects its outward-looking, dynamic, and limitless spirit. Girls embark on an education that is transformational and empowering, giving them the confidence to believe that nothing is beyond their reach. As one of the UK’s leading all-girls’ day and boarding schools, Roedean offers a learning experience that is ambitious, inspirational, and unapologetically bold. Our vision is clear: Girls First, where they are Empowered, Encouraged, and Engaged.
At Roedean, every girl is empowered through an innovative and tailored curriculum that inspires curiosity and excellence across STEM, the Arts, and the humanities, enabling her to explore her passions, embrace challenge, and realise her full potential. The results speak for themselves: in 2025, 37% of GCSEs were awarded Grade 9, and 76% achieved Grades 9 – 7, and at A Level, 50% of grades were A* and 81% A‑B. More than 40% of leavers moved on to STEM degree courses, challenging stereotypes, with several securing places at Oxford and Cambridge to study Medicine, Computer Science, Architecture, and Veterinary Medicine. At the same time, others pursuing Fashion at Kingston, PPE at Warwick, Economics at LSE, and other extraordinary pathways at leading UK and global universities.
Encouragement at Roedean comes through care that nurtures ambition and builds resilience. Integrated boarding provides a truly immersive experience, fostering independence and forging a powerful global sisterhood. With girls from over 30 countries sharing perspectives and friendships, horizons are broadened, and ambitions ignite. This spirit of courage and collaboration is seen in remarkable challenges, from sea swimming across the Channel to France to competing in the national F24 electric car race.
Engagement with the wider world is at the heart of a Roedean education. Building a portfolio of skills for life, including oracy, entrepreneurship, teamwork, and leadership, students develop confidence alongside a strong ethos of philanthropy and community service. They learn not only how to succeed, but also how to contribute meaningfully, becoming changemakers in their communities and beyond.
What sets Roedean apart is the combination of academic ambition with character-building enrichment. The renowned Roedean Diploma, Wild Fridays for Years 7 and 8, and an inspiring programme of visiting speakers and trips ensure that every girl leaves not only with exceptional results, but also with curiosity, creativity, and compassion. Each girl is seen, known, and heard, flourishing in an environment that celebrates individuality.
The extraordinary seaside setting is far more than a backdrop. It inspires ambition, fuels creativity, and brings joy to every day. With an exceptional breadth of opportunity and a community that champions every individual, Roedean is shaping the innovators, leaders, and pioneers of tomorrow.
