Heard it through the grapevine

Most of us are aware of the characteristics of a good quaffable wine, as being refreshing or full-bodied with a great aroma and fruity, well how about applying those attribute to a skin care range? Pelegrims, a new British, premium skincare brand, takes by-product ingredients from the wine-making process to create exceptionally potent, antioxidant-rich skincare, designed to rejuvenate, repair and replenish the skin.

Each vintage is by necessity a limited edition from that year’s harvest, taken from their partner vineyard, the award-winning vineyard of Westwell Wines in Kent. The powerful extracts from their Pinot Noir and Ortega grape harvests in 2020, include vital Polyphenols such as Resveratrol are included within natural and sustainably sourced formulations designed to enrich and protect the skin from environmental aggressors.

Pelegrims is the brainchild of natural formulator, Alex Verier, backed by former tech executive Jerome Moisan. Alex says, Our intention is to formulate low intervention, active skincare formulations that work in harmony with the skin supporting it to heal and rejuvenate itself. Sustainability is hugely important to us, so using waste products from the wine-making process and harnessing the powerful grape extracts are at the core of our brand and our future research. We’re looking forward to documenting our product journey in the years ahead.’

The 2020 Vintage capsule collection comprises of two face care products, a Facial Oil and a Facial Balm and two hand care products, a Hand Cleanser and a Hand Pomade. Pelegrims has used two different types of grape extract, each for their distinctive qualities. The Facial Oil and the super nourishing Facial Balm formulations are based on the English Pinot Noir grape extract, known to contain high levels of Polyphenols such as Resveratrol, Flavanoids, Xanthophylls, Carotene and vitamins which help to soothe and revitalise all skin types. The exfoliating Hand Cleanser and Hand Pomade contain English Ortega grape extract, which helps to repair, protect and hydrate dry, over-worked hands.

Pelegrims, an old English name inspired by Pilgrims Way in the North Downs, Kent, where the grape by-products are sourced, prides itself in the adventure, discovery and uncertainty of seasonal and vintage variations, which makes the ranges so unique and ever-changing. With sustainable packaging, Pelegrims believes products will only exist if and when they are ready, encompassing a truly artisan approach to skincare, focusing on formulating small batches at a time.
