Look and feel younger with these simple lifestyle changes

The increasing demands of everyday life can quickly take their toll on our health, appearance and moods. As long hours and stress begin to instill themselves into our lives, our energy levels and motivation become drained, leaving us feeling and looking worse for wear. While it may seem like exhaustion and premature aging are simply side effects of modern day life, in reality, a few simple lifestyle changes can help transform and invigorate you, both inside and out.

Look and feel younger by introducing some – or all, if you are up to the challenge – of these lifestyle changes. Once put into action, you will feel some of the amazing benefits of these lifestyle changes almost instantly, while others will take a few weeks to take full effect. Take a look at the list below and see what changes you can make today.

Exercise
Increasing your physical activity is one of the most effective ways to improve your health; increase your energy levels; uplift your mood and promote a peaceful night’s sleep.

If, like many working women, you simply do not have the time to hit the gym every day, look at other ways to increase your physical activity during your day-to-day activities. Walking to work, taking the stairs, parking further away from the supermarket entrance. Although these changes may seem small, when put into action, you will almost instantly see an improvement to your overall mental and physical health.

If you are yet to be convinced to bust out the pedometer, studies have shown that exercise can actually slow the aging of cells. So grab your running shoes and sweat your way to youthful and glowing skin.

Sleep
It isn’t called beauty sleep for nothing! Sleep is not only responsible for restoring energy and reducing stress, it can also have a direct effect on the appearance of your skin. In fact, sleeping can help fight the signs of aging and give a more youthful appearance.

As we snooze, the blood flow to the skin increases, giving a healthy and glowing appearance to the skin when we wake up after a good 7 – 8 hours of sleep. In addition, sleep can also significantly reduce the signs of aging. When we sleep, our skin produces new collagen, which keeps the skin firm and prevents sagging.

Develop a skin care routine
Set aside 5 – 10 mins, if not longer, each morning and evening to cleanse and moisturize your skin. Giving yourself this small amount of time to pamper yourself and your skin will help you feel fresh, relaxed and rejuvenated.

Eat a balanced diet
Ensuring that you are eating a healthy and balanced diet can do wonders for our health and appearance. The food we eat provides us with the majority of the energy we need to get through the day, and will keep us feeling alert and active.

In addition to giving us the energy we need to slay the day, food can also improve the health of our skin, hair and nails. Green tea, sunflower seeds, yogurt and oats are packed full of nutrients and minerals that can help reduce a number of skin concerns including wrinkles, dullness, acne and an uneven skin tone.
