Masks for Mfuwe

Last month, Tribal Textiles in Zambia appealed for help from their individual B2C clients and offered them a chance to buy Masks for Mfuwe’. Three and a half weeks later, they’ve received orders for more than 8000 masks – some coming from our B2B clients – which they’re currently making for distribution to local hospitals, clinics and vulnerable members of the community.

It feels amazing to be doing something positive,” says CEO and founder Kirstie Heslop. Our sewing team are very proud of the important contribution they are making in the fight against Covid-19! More importantly, the project is providing valuable employment in this challenging time and is helping to keep Tribal Textiles sustainable while we go through this global crisis.”

Over the last few weeks they’ve had many individual and wholesale enquiries for printed masks, as globally people are being advised to wear masks as they emerge from isolation and lockdown.

If we have to wear masks to stay safe, we think they should be beautiful and ethically made,” says Kirstie. So we turned our hand to making some colourful ones using traditional African fabrics.”
