‘Destination Anywhere: A Musical Journey’, The Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells 24 – 27 November 2021
Tunbridge Wells Operatic & Dramatic Society (TWODS) are bringing musical theatre back to the stage this autumn with a whistle-stop musical tour around the world. Its brand-new show, Destination Anywhere: A Musical Journey, is set to lift the spirits of its audiences who haven’t been able to see them perform for 18 months.
JJ Almond, Theatre Director at The Assembly Hall Theatre in Tunbridge Wells where TWODS have performed for over eighty years says, ‘There’s nothing quite like a live show — the buzz in the auditorium, the anticipation before curtain up and the electric applause of the audience.’
Join TWODS on an exciting musical adventure around the world, from England to Finland, Africa to Australia and Tokyo to Transylvania with their hotly anticipated brand-new show. The theatrical suitcase is packed with songs from over forty different musicals including four award-winning productions which haven’t even made it to London’s West End. The uplifting musical travelogue is sure to get you in the holiday spirit if you’ve missed out on going away this year.
Every journey begins with a single step, but the cast will soon be dancing across Europe, singing on a night-boat to Cairo, backpacking across the Australian outback and jumping aboard the world-famous Greyhound bus in the USA to showcase the best the world of musical theatre has to offer.
Musical theatre is great for expanding the mind by taking us to other worlds, teaching us a little history and giving us an insight into another culture through exposure to new genres of music. After visiting the theatre, you always take a little part of the performance away with you whether it’s a song you cannot get out of your head or a precious memory of something that moved you to tears.
