Outstanding, natural, beautiful

The Tamar Valley is a very special part of Cornwall

Approached through a meadow of buttercups, bluebells and pink campion, Little Otterling is hunkered down on the banks of the River Tamar in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty on the Devon/Cornwall border. This pretty little self-catering cottage in the Tamar Valley is nestled alongside miles of stunning river frontage, where the lucky among you might even glimpse shy Mr Otter fishing along the riverbanks.

Introduction
Little Otterling (once part of the Duke of Bedford estate) is surrounded by nature deep within Clitters Wood close to Gunnislake, and boasts beautiful views of the weir with the river gently meandering alongside. The contemporary interiors bring a boutique flavour to this traditional stone cottage, and ensure that couples can enjoy a self-catering countryside cottage retreat immersed in luxury in all seasons.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms
After an action-packed day exploring the local delights on offer at Little Otterling, climb the unique pig’s tail’ staircase to the bright and airy king-size bedroom, where cloudburst pillows and the softest duckdown duvet promises a deep and uninterrupted night’s sleep with only the distant hoot of the owls in the wood to disturb. The dramatic bathroom continues the urban-style throughout, with salt and pepper’ flooring, heated towel rail, waterfall taps, and a deep tub with shower over. The perfect place to pamper!

Outside
The Tamar Valley is a very special corner of Cornwall where the friendly villages and stunning natural surroundings combine to create a blissful olde worlde charm all of its own. Sit awhile and listen to the birds twittering in the trees and watch the fish making their way upriver at this haven surrounded by wildlife. This luxury self-catering cottage is surrounded by wild meadows and sheltered by the valley; days are best spent with a lounger pulled up on the contemporary slate patio outside Little Otterling with a glass of Cornish cyder, before the sun bids adieu and sinks behind the woods.

For Relaxation
There’s no better way of exploring the Tamar Valley than packing up a picnic, hiring a canoe, and setting off down on your very own river adventure. Take a journey from the historic quay at Cotehele up past the village of Calstock, and into the wilds of the upper tidal limits before returning to your riverside hideaway for a romantic candlelit supper. In winter months snuggle up in front of the woodburner with a glass of red talking into the wee hours, or explore the wild and rugged tors and valleys of nearby Dartmoor.

Practicalities
There is parking above the house for two cars. There is a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric oven and hob, a microwave, and washer/dryer. Please note that the lane approaching the property is long and narrow.
