Potters Home Digital – Crafting Connected Living Since 1913

Established in 1913, Potters began as a local retailer in Tenterden, Kent – a high street favourite known for its personal service and technology product knowledge. Today, while the shop continues to thrive as a landmark destination for audio-visual enthusiasts, Potters has evolved far beyond retail. With expertise spanning smart home integration, lighting design, home cinema and automation, the team now partners with homeowners, architects, and developers to create perfectly connected spaces that redefine modern living.

A reputation for excellence comes not just from the products one sells, household premium brands such as Loewe, Sony, Samsung, LG, Lutron and Sonance, but from a meticulous approach to design and installation. Potters philosophy is simple: technology should enhance your environment, not dominate it.

A recent commission in London perfectly illustrates this vision, working with partners Laughland & Jones as the technology partner to create a careful balance of innovation, aesthetics, and user experience.

The project was a complete smart home transformation set in the heart of the city, designed to elevate contemporary urban living. The homeowners sought a space that merged sophistication and simplicity. A sanctuary where every system worked harmoniously through one intuitive interface.

At the core of this transformation was Control4, a centralised automation platform uniting lighting, heating, cooling, shading, audio, and video systems into a single, seamless experience. Gone were the clutter of switches and thermostats, replaced by elegant, bronze- finished Lutron keypads and touchscreen controls that blend beautifully with the interior. Lighting and shading were key to creating atmosphere and privacy. Potters installed an Eco Lutron lighting system with intelligent, scene-based programming, complemented by motorised curtains and blinds that adapt to the time of day or mood at a touch. A robust, enterprise-grade network underpinned the system, ensuring flawless connectivity for streaming, automation, and communication throughout the home.

Entertainment was just as carefully considered. Discreet plaster-in speakers delivered immersive, multi-room audio without disrupting the décor, while high-definition displays were integrated into bespoke joinery to maintain clean architectural lines. In the lounge, a custom media wall showcased Potters’ mastery of hidden technology, with a perfectly matched soundbar, concealed subwoofer, and invisible ceiling speakers creating an enveloping surround sound experience.

The result? A home where technology is invisible yet indispensable, enriching everyday life with subtle precision. Working in collaboration with Laughland & Jones, this project demonstrates Potters Home Digital’s signature approach, fusing design integrity with technical brilliance to create homes that feel effortlessly intuitive.

For those seeking to bring this level of refinement into their own space, Potters’ Tenterden experience centre offers more than inspiration. Their award-winning Smart Home Garden and showroom provide hands-on experiences of what’s possible, from lighting control and cinema systems to complete smart home automation.

With over a century of expertise, a passion for perfection, and partnerships with the best in the industry, Potters Home Digital continue to set the standard for connected living. Whether you’re designing a new home, refurbishing, extending, or simply looking to upgrade your everyday experience, their team can help you imagine and realise your ideal digital lifestyle.
