Welcome to Aspect County This SUMMER
There is something unmistakable about summer in Kent and Sussex. The pace shifts, the days stretch a little longer, and the places we know so well seem to take on a new energy. From the coastline at Rye and Camber to the historic charm of Tenterden, Tunbridge Wells, Lewes and Canterbury, this part of the country has a way of making summer feel both beautifully familiar and quietly special.
For many of us, the season brings a chance to step outside of routine. It might be a long lunch in a garden, a walk by the sea, a weekend exploring somewhere close to home, or simply making more of the light evenings with family and friends. Summer reminds us how much there is to enjoy on our doorstep, and in Kent and Sussex we are fortunate to be surrounded by places, people and businesses that make the season worth celebrating.
This issue has been created with that spirit in mind. Across the following pages, we bring together a collection of features, ideas and local inspiration that reflect the best of summer living. From food and drink to interiors, property, wellbeing, motoring, travel, style and days out, our aim is to showcase the quality, character and variety that continues to make the region such a desirable place to live, visit and explore.
As always, Aspect County is proud to support the independent businesses, established names and local voices that help shape our communities. Behind every restaurant, showroom, studio, shop, practice, hotel, attraction or service featured in these pages, there are people working hard to create something of value. Their stories, expertise and passion are a huge part of what gives Kent and Sussex their personality.
The summer months are also a time when local businesses often come into their own. Restaurants open their terraces, gardens reach their peak, homes are refreshed, events fill the calendar, and families begin planning days out, short breaks and memorable experiences. Whether it is a coastal visit to Whitstable or Hastings, a countryside escape through the Weald, or an afternoon spent discovering one of the region’s market towns, we hope this issue offers something useful and enjoyable.
There is a real richness to life here, and summer has a way of bringing it to the surface. It is in the quiet lanes, the seafront views, the village greens, the country pubs, the boutique hotels, the independent retailers and the local experts who continue to raise the standard in their fields. It is also in the simple pleasure of slowing down long enough to notice what is around us.
So, whether you are reading this at home, in a waiting room, over coffee, or while planning your next weekend out, we hope the pages ahead offer a little inspiration for the season. Thank you, as always, for picking up Aspect County and for continuing to support the businesses and communities that make Kent and Sussex such a remarkable place to be.
